Hace más de dos años y medio escribí algo para poder usar dos monitores con Ubuntu Linux. En un principo funciona bien, pero yo qué coño sé, pero a mi como que no me ha funcionado ahora que me he comprado un nuevo monitor (ironías de la vida…).

Siguiendo mi propio tutorial, no me ha funcionado. Pero la solución es muchisimo más simple de lo que parece. Qué necesité? Primero que nada dos monitores (TFT o CTR) una tarjeta NVIDIA (tener dos tarjetas es una tontería por que para mi, usar una SLI no vale la pena…) y los drivers de nvidia

The easiest way to install Nvidia drivers in Ubuntu Edgy:

$sudo aptitude install nvidia-glx
$sudo nvidia-xconfig
$sudo reboot

Why aptitude? It remembers dependencies downloaded (and installed) to install a particular package and removes them automatically when you remove that package.

And remember, comments are very welcomed!

Sirve para Debian, Ubuntu y cualquier otra distro.

En este caso, he usado 1 tarjeta de video con dos salidas (una para CRT y otra DVI), pero mas o menos lo voy a dejar como que tambien pueda usarse con dos tarjetas.

Yesterday I changed my repositories to Dapper, but it broke my system and I couldn’t boot Kubuntu…lets see whats going on, I will use the old Xorg file and try to use it to start up KDE (which I think is the problem)…but I will have to wait until the evening when I come back from work…dammn it!

In order ti change it to dapper, I replaced everything that has to do with breezy to drapper…and that was it.

My sources.list ended up like this:

deb http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper main restricted

Or something, not sure now. At the end I had to reinstall the whole system as it crashed my system and wasn’t able to boot. Now I have it back to Breezy let’s wait until next release! when? well, as the Flight CD4 has been released on February 19th, I’ll have to wait a little bit more
